چکیده

I present measurements of the degree of second-order coherence g 2 0 for spontaneous parametric downconversion fields and discuss the differences between two-detector (unconditional) and three-detector (conditional) measurements of g 2 0 . An emphasis is placed on comparing measurements made using time-to-amplitude converters (TACs) to those made using a logic circuit, illustrating how the TAC measurements are adversely influenced by dead time effects. Finally, I show how the detrimental effects of dead time when using TACs can be mitigated by renormalizing the measurement results. © 2007 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 270.5290, 030.5290, 030.5260.

Indoor Positioning and Pre-processing of RSS Measurements

Rapid expansions of new location-based services signify the need for finding accurate localization techniques for indoor environments. Among different techniques, RSS-based  schemes and in particular oneof its variants which is based on Graph-based Semi-Supervised Learning (G-SSL) are widely-used approaches The superiority of this scheme is that it has low setup/training cost and at the same ti...

Characterization of a Portable Neutron Coincidence Counter

Neutron coincidence counting is a technique widely used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of nuclear material. Because different isotopes possess different coincident neutron characteristics, the coincident neutron signature can be used to identify and quantify a given material. In an effort to identify unknown nuclear samples in field inspections, a new portable neutron coincidence cou...

Planar and SPECT Monte Carlo acceleration using a variance reduction technique in I131 imaging

Background: Various variance reduction techniques such as forced detection (FD) have been implemented in Monte Carlo (MC) simulation of nuclear medicine in an effort to decrease the simulation time while keeping accuracy. However most of these techniques still result in very long MC simulation times for being implemented into routine use. Materials and Methods: Convolution-based force...

Infant Head Circumference Measurement Using Deep Learning Techniques

Infant's head circumference measurement and and its growth monitoring plays a crucial role in diagnosis the diseases which cause a deformation in the infant's head. Due to the fact that the contact measurement, which is performed using a tape measure and a caliper, has problems such as transmitting disease, infecting, not comfortable and disruption relaxing the baby, going to non-contact measur...

Non-Gaussian states by conditional measurements

We address realistic schemes for the generation of non-Gaussian states of light based on conditional intensity measurements performed on correlated bipartite states. We consider both quantum and classically correlated states and different kind of detection, comparing the resulting non Gaussianity parameters upon varying the input energy and the detection efficiency. We find that quantum correla...
